At Dunkirk Primary, we are involved in an ongoing Acts of Kindness project. It runs throughout the year and involves every single class in school. Through this project we explore how kindness, care and compassion can sit at the heart of the school community and be part of our everyday lives.
A number of studies show that practising kindness has many physical, emotional and mental health benefits. Being kind to others can help us become more healthy and happy. Even small acts of kindness can be good for our wellbeing, increasing our energy levels, confidence and boosting self esteem.
This project focuses on positive behaviour rather than negative behaviour. It can be easy to forget to be kind to others, especially if you are busy or stressed. By practising Acts of Kindness, everyone in the school community has the chance to think about others and what they need to keep themselves safe and happy.
Dunkirk sends messages of kindness to The Lahore Lyceum in Pakistan
Mrs Powell and Wisteria Class made peg dolls that had specific messages of kindness for Grade 4 at The Lahore Lyceum. They recorded themselves speaking their messages as well as attaching them to their peg dolls. Each child in Grade 4 was presented with their own peg doll when Mrs Powell, Mrs Beeley and
Mrs Qureshi visited The Lahore Lyceum.
The pupils responded by making their own peg dolls and writing and recording their own message of kindness back for Wisteria Class.
