Why Are Trees Precious?
The new year sees the start of a new Big Question which will drive our Comenius project Small Action, Big Change this year. All four schools; Dunkirk, Voksen in Norway, Rastaala in Finland and Il Circolo Didattico of Ciampino in Rome will all work on this question in their schools. Joint planning and projects
will happen over the year and there will be a number of teacher exchange visits this year.

What Questions Would You Like to Ask a Tree?
Pupils at Dunkirk have been thinking hard about the questions they would like to ask a tree - and these have been compiled into a film - take a look at some of their wonderful questions and photographs of them exploring their local trees throughout all the seasons:

The children and teachers of Dunkirk and Voksen have been out and about in the local woodlands exploring why trees are precious to them. The teachers were able to work with the children in their link school and to really get to know each-other. The following slide show captures our international sharing of 'Trees and our local environment'. Can you tell which is Norwegian 'Learning' and which is British' Learning'?
After spending time out in the woods and discussing what we think about trees, we played around with simple animation with a laptop, web cam and light board to make short Autumn films like the one below.
Armed with all the language and ideas about trees, children used large sheets of paper to create 'Story Boards' and then combined all these ideas into one short story animation about what the world would be like if we didn't value our trees... The voices in the film were spontaneous and all their own words.
