Mrs Heidi Hollis, Ms Dani Barrett and Mrs Asima Qureshi from Dunkirk visited The Lahore Lyceum for one week in January 2015.
During the week the theme of Greed and Power was investigated with Grade 5 -the partner class of Cedar Class at Dunkirk.
First the pupils looked at the Power of Me. What can they do as individuals to make changes in their lives and in the society around them.
They moved on to looking at the Power of Us as a community. They examined the changes they wished to see in the world and hat they had to do to achieve them.
The issue of load shedding and lack of power to make things work was of massive concern to all the pupils in Grade V. They wanted to stop all power cuts and shortages of fuel and other natural resources such as gas and water.
Ms Hollis and Ms Barrett were so surprised when the electricity cut out in the middle of lessons! It didn't seem to bother the students of The Lahore Lyceum at all. But on further discussion it became the most apparent and urgent need for all pupils. They discussed alternative sources of energy such as solar energy and decided this was something they wished to investigate further. The behaviour of politicians and leaders was another aspect of concern. Some letter writing was discussed!!
On Wednesday 28th January 2015 a newspaper was produced on the same day at The Lahore Lyceum, Dunkirk Primary and Rastaala School, Finland..
